I would recommend against converting a W123-chassis car to R134A. R12 is readily available on craigslist, I often find it cheaper per can than R134 retail prices. Most folks I've read that have converted them are unhappy with the performace of R134A in their systems. I fixed similar problems with my 1982 240D, filled with R12 and was amazed ....

IMO the R12 blows cooler air than the R134A. I really need to compare two identical cars which one has the R12, the other R134A. I know that the air from the vents feel cooler with the R12 compared to the R134A.
